The new Facebook Mobile is a smartphone-type Facebook experience optimized for a wide range of Java devices. This application offers people a complete Facebook experience on a feature phone that is faster and more engaging than Facebook’s mobile site. It includes all the core features of Facebook: account creation, News Feed, photo upload, Friend Finder, etc. Updates to the Facebook Mobile typically happen automatically with server-side changes, minimizing the need for client upgrades.
2. What are the technical specifications of Facebook Mobile?
- Install size is approximately 110KB, with some variation based on screen resolution.
- In case there is free storage on the device, the client will use from 4KB to 1MB of storage for caching.
- Recommended memory footprint depends on screen resolution, starting at around 512KB up to around 2MB for higher resolution screens.
- JSR 135 is required, while JSR 75 is highly recommended.
3. How much bandwidth does Facebook Mobile use?
An average user uses roughly 5MB of data per month with this application.
To preserve network capacity, push notifications are not sent within the app and uses SMS instead. Additionally, if the user does not use Facebook Mobile for 2 to 5 minutes, the app automatically disconnects from the network.

Users can select individual applications by clicking the Apps icon on the Facebook home screen. Once users click Apps, they will see an Add Apps icon that they can use to browse through and bookmark selected apps to the Apps folder. Only when users first click an app icon, e.g. IBN Live or Weather, will they start the download process.
